The Jarman Plaza in Tuscola welcomed a new addition to its offices at 704 N. Main St. Cory Roberts, a mortgage lender with Two One Seven Mortgage and firefighter in Tuscola and Urbana, cut the ribbon Nov. 21. Roberts sees clients on an appointment basis, but runs an open door policy while he’s in the office.
If you’re wondering what kind of service a mortgage lender offers compared to a bank, Roberts will tell you, “We specialize strictly in mortgage lending.”
Two One Seven Mortgage is a mortgage lending company that focuses on residential property.
“You help people into their dream homes,” said Roberts.
Roberts said that any agent with Two One Seven Mortgage could assist with residential loans. They help with refinancing home equity lines of credit and all other usual services for primary residences.
Roberts said he’s been with the 3-year-old Champaign-based company for two and a half years.
Before Roberts’s career in mortgage lending started out, he worked as a volunteer and hired firefighter. He’s been in Tuscola for nine years and Urbana for five. He first volunteered from his hometown in Mahomet 16 years ago and finally got hired seven years afterward.
“It’s always something I had a passion for. What better thing can you do for your community? It’s the ultimate thing to do.”
Roberts started getting into mortgage lending through his friend Justin Gensler. It was easy for him to do it on his days off from firefighting. The numbers aspect of the job is also something he enjoyed.
“There’s a lot of satisfaction I get from both jobs,” said Roberts.
