Tuscola’s boys track team struck gold this past Thursday at the Central Illinois Conference Championships at Macon Meridian. The Warriors secured fourth place in the league as a team grabbing six gold medals along the way. Chris Boyd led the way winning both throws events securing a pair of golds while the 4×800 relay collected four more.
Boyd fired the 12-pound lead ball 58.63 feet to win the shot put and doubled down launching the discus 148.72 feet, winning the event by over ten feet. Senior Haven Hatfield took home third place honors in the shot and landed in fifth in the discus delivering eight team points. Classmate Krish Patel found his way to some points in the field events as well thanks to a fifth in the triple jump.
Coach Ryan Hornaday’s squad scored in all four the relays, collecting a pair of third’s, a second and a firstt. Fourth year runners Logan Wallace and Riley Nolan joined with sophs Will Foltz and Josiah Hortin in the first place 4×800 breaking the tape in eight minutes and 30 seconds. Foltz and Wallace were also part of a third place outing in the 4×400 handing off to juniors Ben Hornaday and Hunter Branca. Branca and Hornaday were both part of the second place 4×200-relay and third place 4×100-meter as was Connor Lewis while Wallace and Patel filled the other slots.
Tristan Gadomski was the highest placer in the open runs. The junior ended up in fourth in the 110-high hurdles and fifth in the taxing 300-low hurdles. Freshman David achome fifth place points in the 800-meter with a time of 2:10.
