During the 2020-21 school year, the Villa Grove High School completed one of the best yearbooks in the state as judged by the Illinois Journalism Education Association.
The IJEA awarded the VGHS publication Vade Mecum second place in overall excellence. This was based on their efforts across several categories such as use of photography, copywriting, and design.
Villa Grove was recognized in six different categories, and looks forward to competing next year.
2021 coeditor, Ava Vollmer said “I think it is a great honor to be a part of a nationally recognized and award winning yearbook crew.”
Staff member Jayna Martin said “it feels personally fulfilling to be a part of such a great yearbook. It is wonderful to have created such a bond with everyone in the class”
This year the staff has continued to battle against the strain of the pandemic and also a lightning storm which took out their technology for approximately six weeks.
Even with all of these challenges, the staff is working on another “award winning” publication for this year.
