Girls Basketball
Jousted by Knights
Hailey Stutz nailed one of her two three-pointers and scored a team-high five points as VG fell to ALAH 56-16 on January 17. Jobella Crafton corralled a career high 13 rebounds, including five off the offensive glass to help the VGHS cause. 

Unseated by Riders
Kaylee Arbuckle had six points and six steals, but the Devils came up short against Arcola in the opening round of the Lincoln Prairie Conference tournament on January 20, falling 49-10. Madison Logan collected seven rebounds to lead the team on the glass.

Mauled by Lions
Jobella Crafton tallied seven points and Jobeth Crafton pulled down seven rebounds and pilfered three steals as the Blue Devils dropped a LPC tourney consolation matchup to LSA 47-16. 

Boys Basketball
Darkened by Knights
Layne Rund had nine points and Brady Clodfelder added six, but it wasn’t enough as the Blue Devils dropped a 56-24 decision to ALAH on January 18. Clodfelder and Luke Zimmerman led the way on the glass, pulling down five rebounds each, with Zimmerman collecting three offensive caroms. Twenty-four devils’ turnovers led to 28 Knights points in the contest. 

Scuttled by Pirates
Lukas Shadwick had a career-high nine points, but the Devils dropped a 44-29 decision to Cumberland on January 20. Layne Rund, Luke Zimmerman and Payton Smith each had four rebounds for the Blue Devils. 

Dived by Bombers
Layne Rund nailed six three-pointers on his way to a 25 point night, and Luke Zimmerman chipped in 11, but the Devils dropped a 74-59 decision to Argenta Oreana on January 21. Zimmerman also hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds, and Liam Barr was two for two on three’s to net six points for VGHS, whose turnovers led to a 24-9 scoring advantage for the Bombers.

VGJH dropped a 17-25, 10-25 decision to St Joseph junior high on January 18.

Eighth graders cage Panthers
The Blue Devils defeated St. Joseph 25-20, 22-25, 25-19 on January 18.
