Museum readies for annual photography contest

The Douglas County Museum is gearing up once again for their seventh Annual Photography Contest for kids and adults! Cash prizes! Entries are due by Monday, November 22, although you can drop off your photos anytime during normal business hours before that day!

Photos will be judged anonymously by artists outside of the museum staff. They have three kids’ age levels: elementary, middle and high school and an amateur adult category for those over the age of 18! All exhibitors pay $5.00 (per person, not per entry) and can enter up to six photos for that one flat fee (two in color, two in black and white, two in local history). The categories are Color, Black & White and Local History and all photos must be taken in Douglas County (including all of Arthur and all of Atwood). Photos must be 8 by 10 size or larger. You can frame your photos if you’d like, otherwise the museum has 8 by 10 frames for you to use. Awards Day will be announced at a later date. Further rules and regulations are listed on the entry form posted in the discussion and available on the website, www.douglascountymuseum.org under events.

Cash prizes for the winners are donated by these local businesses and individuals:
Silver Sponsor: Ta’Carbon Steak House & Bar, Tuscola Kiwanis Club, Tuscola Rotary Club, Odd Fellows Tuscola Lodge #316, and First Neighbor Bank
Bronze Sponsors: Camargo Township District Library, Newman Regional District Library, Vintage Karma of Tuscola, Joe’s Pizza of Tuscola, Matthew R. Hales Family of Newman, and Rosemary and Bernard Dvorachek of Wisconsin
