Joy Stenger, 80, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 6:24 a.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her residence.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 East Northline Road, Tuscola, IL with Pastor Jason Braaten officiating. Burial followed in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, with military rites accorded.
Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Stenger was born November 4, 1941 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of Delbert M. and Martha E. Mullem Jones. She married Henry Darrell Stenger on May 19, 1966 in Tuscola, IL. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1991.
Joy is survived by her daughters: Dana Lynn Stenger and Dara Joy (Gary) Kidwell, son: Darren Matthew (Jackie) Stenger all of Tuscola, fiancé: Scott Dallas of Tuscola, nine grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Lynn Gillespie Wilks.
Joy served her country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #27, Tuscola and AMVETS. She was a Mary Kay representative for many years. She formerly worked for Country Companies Insurance and served as a Girl Scout leader. Joy enjoyed reading, needlepoint, crocheting and playing the piano.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
