Stevens named Villa Grove football’s “Dude of the Week”

By Tony Hooker
Each week during the Villa Grove football season, the coaches will honor a player for his hard work, citizenship and leadership skills by naming him the “dude of the week.” This week’s ‘dude’ is Parker Stevens. Here’s what his coaches had to say about him.

“Parker has become one of our leaders on defense this year along with being a catalyst on offense. On offense all he needs is one play to break one open. One of our best Running Backs in our Stable. Defensively he has been asked to put a lot on his shoulders. I am not easy on him, I expect Parker to play multiple positions, know alignment, defend pass when asked. His position I ask a lot of, and he takes on the challenge. He is an all-around athlete on the field!

In the classroom he is respected by his teachers for doing the work. In the hallways Parker is respected by his peers. All around, “Good Dude”.

This award shows his leadership on and off the field, respect for his teammates, respect to his school, and respect for our community. He has shown community service when asked to volunteer for events. Our “Dude” will lead our team on the field tomorrow vs the Arthur Lovington Atwood Knights. Great job Parker!!”

Here are five questions to get to know Parker a bit better…

What is better? A big hit to stop an opponents’ driver or a long TD run? Why?

There’s no better feeling than running in for a touchdown and getting excited with my teammates.

What is your favorite meal that mom or dad cooks?

Mama’s meatloaf!

Who is your dream date?

Avery Fearday, of course!

Who do you have to see in concert?

Either AC/DC or Coldplay.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10?

I’d like to go on and play college basketball somewhere. Other than that, I’m not too sure, yet.
