As the end of the school year has drawn to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and cooperation in such a difficult time. This year has been filled with a multitude of both challenges and victories. I feel that despite living in a pandemic we were able to successfully provide a quality academic experience for our students. That is nothing short of amazing! The combined efforts of teachers, school support staff, students, and parents are to be commended.
We are already planning for the return of students next fall. There will still be challenges, however, we are more hopeful each day for a return to pre-pandemic attendance conditions. In order to help families properly plan for the return to school for the 2021-2022 term there are some important things that need to be communicated. Villa Grove CUSD #302 students will be attending school five days a week for a full school day. There will not be a remote learning option except for extreme medical circumstances. The school calendar has already been approved and can be found on the district website. Other return to school conditions, such as masking and self-certification symptom checks have not been determined. We will follow all Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education guidelines. Details will be communicated prior to the start of school. I would expect there will continue to be an element of fluidity to these things until the Pandemic Order is fully lifted.
Registration will be online again this year. Currently, the registration window is scheduled for June 23 – July 2. If you are unable to register online during this time frame or need additional assistance there will be a scheduled date(s) to register via computer at the school and staff will be available. More detailed information regarding registration will be sent to families through TeacherEase.
In an attempt to continue to improve communication with families and the community, I am excited to announce that the district will be debuting a new suite of communication tools. This will include a new school website and a mobile app that will be utilized for timely notifications to keep everyone abreast of important information. The goal is for this to be up and running in July. There will be more information to come soon.
No matter what the pandemic climate has been, we have persevered together and have been made stronger because of it. Values have been examined, priorities reorganized, and an even stronger commitment to educating our students has been realized. It is my most sincere wish that you all have an enjoyable summer.
