Girls’ Basketball
Scuttle Pirates
Kyleigh Block had 17 points and Madi Burwell added 12 as VGH defeated Cumberland 41-23 on March 1. Block also had nine rebounds and three steals for the Blue Devils, while Maci Clodfelder pulled down five boards and had a pair of steals of her own to help the cause. Burwell and Vanessa Wright each had three steals for Villa Grove Heritage and Kaylee Arbuckle handed out four assists.
Cage Lions
Kyleigh Block stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, nine rebounds, six steals and four assists as Villa Grove Heritage defeated Decatur LSA 45-21 on March 2. Madi Burwell helped out her senior classmate with ten points and five pilfers of her own. Vanessa Wright added eight rebounds, five points, and three steals of her own.
Down Bombers
Kyleigh Block hit for 23 points and Kaylee Arbuckle added 12 as Villa Grove Heritage defeated Argenta Oreana 50-27 on March 3. Block also grabbed ten rebounds and Maci Clodfelder collected nine caroms for the Blue Devils, who enjoyed a 44-34 advantage on the glass. Arbuckle had three steals, and Block and Vanessa Wright dished out three assists each.
Boys’ Basketball
Weather Storm
Logan Nohren and Carson Howard had 16 points each, and Jake Eversole added 11 as Villa Grove Heritage defeated Sangamon Valley 73-48 on March 2. Nohren added nine boards and Eversole dished out six assists for the Hawks. Howard and Nohren each had three steals to lead the defensive effort.
Swashbuckled by Pirates
Logan Nohren had 15 points and Carson Howard added 12, but it wasn’t enough as VGH dropped a 66-37 decision to Cumberland on March 5. Nohren pulled down nine rebounds, Layne Rund had six points and Brady Clodfelder added four for the Hawks.
Overrun by Sullivan
Logan Nohren had 23 points to lead VGH in a 59-37 loss to Sullivan on March 6. Nohren was a beast on the glass, collecting 14 rebounds, and Carson Howard helped out with eight points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Seventh grade
Overrun by Raiders
Cameron McGaughey had two kills, Piper Kiser scooped seven digs and Ella Schweighart had six digs of her own, but VGJH dropped a straight set 13-25, 9-25 decision to St Mathew on March 2. Schweighart also served up three aces for the Blue Devils.
Spray Hornets
Piper Kiser had eight kills and served up 16 aces as Villa Grove defeated Tuscola East Prairie 25-10, 25-19 on March 3. Ella Schweighart tallied nine assists and five aces of her own for the Blue Devils.
Unsaddle Riders
Hayden Thomas had four kills and three aces as VGJH beat Arcola in straight sets 25-8, 25-13 on March 4. Piper Kiser served up seven aces and had three digs and Miki Ehmen and Lila Thompson-Burton each had three digs for the Blue Devils. The seventh grade squad finished the regular season with a record of 7-2 and earned the number one seed in the class seven 2A regional that they will host.
Eighth grade
Fall to Raiders
Madison Hinds had three kills and Jobella Crafton powered down two, but VGJH dropped a 9-25, 14-25 decision to St Mathews on March 2. Crafton and Hinds each had four digs, and Piper Kiser served up two aces for the Blue Devils.
Buzz Hornets
Jobella Crafton hammered nine kills as VGJH defeated Tuscola East Prairie 25-22, 19-25, 16-25 on March 3. Madison Hinds and Piper Kiser swatted five kills each for the Blue Devils, and Hayden Thomas had 15 digs to lead the defense. Kiser contributed 12 digs and Carly Eads handed out ten assists.
Trodden by Riders
Jobella Crafton powered down ten kills and Lila Bessent passed out eight assists, but it wasn’t enough as VGJH dropped a 25-19, 23-25, 19-25 decision to Arcola on March 4. The loss dropped the Devils Record to 6-5, but they will be the number one seed at the regional that they will host.
