Iva Jean Atwater, 80, of Camargo, IL, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on February 2, 2021, at her home. She was born on August 21, 1940, to Sidner L. Orwig and Bertha Anderson Orwig Welch in Smithfield, IL. She married Arlan Atwater on July 27, 1957. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2014.
She is survived by one son, Mark Atwater of Camargo; one daughter, Kenlyn (John) Deckard of Macomb, IL; four grandsons, Caleb (Kiele) Mackey of Mankato, MN, Benjamin Deckard of Macomb IL, Christopher and Mitchell Atwater of Tuscola, IL; two granddaughters, Robin Mackey of Creve Coeur, IL, and Kerry Mackey of Macomb, IL; one great grandson, Keaton Al-kaissy of Mankato, MN; three great granddaughters, Rylee Mackey of Creve Coeur, IL, and Braelynn and Violette Mackey of Mankato, MN; a niece; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Lee Atwater; two brothers, Ed Hummel and Phillip Carl Dimmitt; and one sister, Wilma M. Danner.
Iva attended Robert Morris College and Western Illinois University. For the last 30 years she worked as an independent agent in the trucking industry. Prior to that she had worked a variety of jobs, including working with her husband Arlan in restaurant management. She also wrote several screenplays. She was a member of Shepherd’s Chapel Church in Gravette, Arkansas. She loved and cared for her family tirelessly, and loved her little Shih Tzu dogs.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
