Girls Cross Country
Lilli Montgomery’s third place finish, earned her all-conference honors and led the VGH cross country squad to a third place finish at the Lincoln Prairie Conference meet, held in Bethany on October 2. Emma Buesing shattered her career personal record, running ninth in 22:14. Hailey Stutz finished 20th in 24:32, Madison Logan ran 21st in 24:40, and Kyleigh Price finished 24th, running the course in 25:16.
Boys Cross Country
Zach Ruwe finished in seventh place with a time of 17:38 to earn all-conference honors as the boys’ team finished in fift place. Rowan Denmark-Collins was 19th in a career best 18:48, Aidan Ashbrook finished 27th in 20:04, which was a PR for him this season. Lukas Carey ran 30th in 20:27, Logan Chapman was 48th in 24:51, and Austin Zoch finished in 51st place in 28:00.
Coach Jim Kestner was pleased with the efforts from both squads. “Both girls and boys squads ran hard and performed well. It’s great to have 2 all-conference athletes, and these freshmen are going to be runners to watch as they continue their high school careers,” he enthused.
Girls Golf
Kyleigh Block and Logan Lillard each earned all-conference status as they fired 120’s to finish tied for seventh at the LPC conference meet, held in Decatur on September 30. Maci Clodfelder was just two strokes behind at 122, Addisyn Wilson fired a 126, Ava Vollmer was at 132 and Alison Pangburn shot a 148 on the challenging Hickory Point course.
Boys Golf
Zach Buesing tied for lowest score on the day with an 81, but lost on the fourth playoff hole to finish second at the LPC conference championship. Jake Gilles and Noah Davison each had 103’s, Liam Barr fired a125, Nick Wilson was a stroke back at 126, and Jalen Southard rounded out the team effort with a 128.
