Villa Grove fall sports wrap

Girls Cross Country
Lili Montgomery raced to a 30th place finish in 22:17.94 to lead VGH to a 10th place finish at the PBL Invitational on Sept 12.  Emma Buesing ran 53rd in 24:51.17, Madison Logan finished 61st in 25:41.21, Hailey Stutz finished 64th in 25:55.78, and Kyleigh Price ran 72nd in 27:45.92 to round out the team scoring.

Boys Cross Country
Zach Ruwe continued his strong freshman campaign, running 33rd in 18:23.24, as the Blue Devils finished 9th at the 11 team PBL Invitational on September 12.   Daniel Olson PR’ed for the third straight meet, finishing 54th in 19:54.80, Ethan Meneely finished 57th in 20:01.32, Lukas Carey ran a 20:18.10 to finish 62nd.  Rowan Denmark-Collins ran a strong 20:34.38 to finish 67th.  

Boy’s Golf
Zach Buesing continued his torrid start, taking medalist honors for the fourth time in four meets, by firing a 34 at a triangular meet at Iron Horse CC vs Tuscola and Effingham St. Anthony.  Jake Gilles and Jalen Southard fired 55’s to finish tied for 13th, Nick Wilson shot a 57 to come in 15th, and Jesse Bessent finished 17th with a 59.  Noah Davison rounded out the VGH score card with a 61.  

Girl’s Golf
Kyleigh Block shot a 54 to earn a 7th place finish at Iron Horse cc in a triangular meet versus Effingham St. Anthony and Tuscola. Maci Clodfelder fired a 62 to finish in 13th, and Allison Pangburn and Logan Lillard each shot 64 to finish in a 14th place tie.  Addisyn Wilson rounded out the team score sheet with a 65 to place 17th.  

Junior High Baseball
Remember Titans
Jaxon Wilson hit a two-run homer and picked up the win on the mound, fanning 4, as VGJH picked up 7-4 win over Tri-County on Friday, September 11.  Cole Price went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s and Nolan Morse went 3-3 with a walk for the Blue Devils.  Cooper Clark pitched 3 innings of scoreless relieve for Villa Grove. 

Junior High Softball
Crush Shiloh
Hayden Thomas, Piper Kiser, Carli Eads and Izzy Dodd each scored three runs to lead Villa Grove to a 16-11 win over Shiloh on Thursday, September 10.  Thomas had a pair of doubles, and Kiser and Cameron McGaughey each tripled, and Ella Schweighart and Madison Hinds scored a run to help the Blue Devil cause.  Kiser picked up the win, fanning six and allowing 3 earned runs in 6 innings.  

Glared by Rockets
Hayden Thomas and Piper Kiser each scored a pair of runs and Carly Eads knocked in 3 runs, but it wasn’t near enough as VGJH fell to Unity 21-6 on September 11. Eads took the loss, giving up 12 earned runs.
