Villa Grove fall sports wrap
High School Girls Cross Country
Lilian Montgomery ran 29th in 22:42, Madison Logan finished 73rd. Haily Stutz finished 77th, Kyleigh Price ran 82nd, Emma Buesing finished 90th. All VG girls’ team members beat their times from the previous week.
High School Boys cross country
Freshman Zach Ruwe finished 19th overall with a time of 18:12 to lead the Blue Devils to a 14th place finish at the prestigious Chrisman Cow Chip Classic. Rowan Denmark-Collins finished in 66th place after shaving nearly two and a half minutes off his previous weeks’ time. Daniel Olson ran a PR of 20:10 to finish in 77th position. Aidan Ashbrook ran 91st, Lukas Carey finished in 114th, and Austin Zoch ran 131st for Villa Grove. “The Boys team, with four freshmen placed 14th. They looked stronger this week and I see bright futures ahead,” Coach Jim Kestner said.
Girls Golf
Addyson Wilson fired a 56 to take medalist honors in a dual meet vs. Tri-County on September 3. Backing the freshman was Kyleigh Block, who shot a 57. Ava Vollmer, Logan Lillard and Alison Pangburn each shot 65’s to round out the VGH score sheet.
Boys Golf
Zach Buesing fired a 37 to take medalist honors for the fourth consecutive match as the Blue Devils shot a season low 195 as a team. Backing Buesing was Noah Davison, who fired a 49, Nick Wilson had a 51, and Jesse Bessent came in with a season low 58. Brandon Kelly rounded out the team scoring with a 65.
Boy’s Junior High Cross Country
Lukas Shadwick ran a 12:45 for two miles to take eight place at the Chrisman Cow Chip Classic. Kurt Zimmerman was 17th in 13:04, Jackson Gilles ran 46th in 14:31, Chase White ran a 14:33 to take 47th place. Nolan Shadwick ran in 72nd place to round out the VG scoring. Other runners included Tucker McGarigle in 78th and Logan Hauersperger, who fished in 86th place in 17:50.
Girl’s Junior High Cross Country
Eva Piercy covered the two-mile course in 19:49 to finish 71st, and Lilly-Lynn Davis ran 78th with a time of 20:45.
