Where did you grow and go to high school?
I grew up in St Louis, Missouri. I attended North County High School.
When did you decide that you wanted to be a teacher?
After I earned a Master’s Degree at EIU, I started working a second job teaching part-time at a community college. I realized that teaching is what I truly enjoy.
Where else have you taught/student taught?
I taught part -time at Parkland College and Lincoln Trail. After I earned my Professional Educators License, I taught at Neoga High School, St. Elmo High, and at Villa Grove High.
I student taught at Charleston High School.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I like to watch MLB games, college basketball, gymnastics, and forensics shows.
I also love to read and spend time with family and friends.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
The biggest influence in my life was my second Mom. She took me to church, taught me about personal faith and prayer. Through her everyday example, I learned to value and respect people.
She taught me that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and that our most important goal in life is to help those in need.
What is one thing that your students should know?
I want my students to know that I will treat them the same way that I would want my own children to be treated. I will work hard teaching them and will encourage them to work hard. To me, they are not just a name on the roster. They are stars waiting to shine!
