The meeting of the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals met on February 13 at 7 p.m. The meeting was necessary to consider a request to rezone one residential lot at 905 Meadowview Drive. The parcel is the southernmost of three lots purchased by the Tuscola Moose a few years ago, with the original intent of expanding their parking. The other two lots are already zoned B-1, Highway Business, and Ford of Tuscola is proposing to purchase all three lots for the expansion of their business. The planning commission and zoning board of appeals subcommittee recommended to the council that they approve the rezoning.
The February 24 meeting of the Tuscola City Council was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
The first order of business was to approve an ordinance to annex certain real estate located in the southwest quarter of section 35, township 16 north, range 8 east of the third principal meridian in Douglas County, Illinois.
The board also approved the planning commission’s recommendation for map amendment for 905 Meadowview Drive from being D-1 to B-1 zoning.
In his ongoing projects report, City Administrator Drew Hoel noted that the first house on the North Ward Square has been framed and that three additional homes are already underway, that the budget meetings have been scheduled, and that a pre-construction meeting was held with Love’s Travel Store. There, they were able to coordinate the project. The general contractor plans to start construction within the next couple of weeks if final permits are granted and the estimated construction time is 220 days.
The council also:
– Approved the minutes from the February 10 meeting.
– Approved the January 2020 financial report.
– Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $117,869.02.
– Adjourned until the March 9 meeting at 7:30 p.m.
