Dine with a Doc coming Feb 27 at Jarman Center

Senior Education Ministries, Inc. in partnership with the Tuscola Community has scheduled: Dine with a Doc in Tuscola on the fourth Thursday of every from 11:30a.m. to 1:30p.m. at the Jarman Center located at 704 N Main St Tuscola, IL.

Dine with a Doc is a free program that welcomes the local senior public to getting to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch.  No need to bring any money. Just bring a questioning mind, an appetite and perhaps a friend.

This program is a community effort of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, area businesses, a local church in the community and the senior citizens coming together for the good of all to serve our seniors.

Each doctor has graciously donated this time in effort to listen, hear, and answer your medical questions while sharing a meal with you. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or providing complimentary lunch for you to enjoy and learn about ways they may help you as well.

The Dine with a Doc program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living, and educate them (from a preventative standpoint) with the goal of improving their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make an informed choice about their healthcare.

This month by special request, we are excited to present: Marsha Griffin from Illinois Attorney General’s Office at 601 South University Avenue Carbondale, IL.

Marsha is a Community Outreach Liaison for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. Before coming to the Office of the Attorney General, Marsha was an elementary teacher for thirteen years. She resides in Jonesboro, Illinois. Join us for this informative presentation by Marsha Griffin from the Illinois Attorney General Office. She will discuss the scams being used to get personal information and share tips on how to prevent you from becoming a victim of consumer fraud.

This discussion will cover:

– IRS Scam Calls

– Grandparents Scam

-Phishing/Spoofing Scam

– Charity Scam & more

A question and answer period will follow her discussion and a delicious complementary meal will be provided courtesy of the Jarman Center.

The Jarman Center is Your answer for senior community living in Central Illinois.  Located in historic Tuscola Illinois, the Jarman Center is a different kind of Senior Community Living Center. They offer an independent life while knowing they are here if you need them.

Community connection plays a vital role at the Jarman Center. Not only do they have apartment living, but they are home to several businesses and their main dining room is used to hold meetings and events on a regular basis, so there is always social events and a community feel at Jarman Center.

They combine comfortable small town living with the latest in available services. They provide a home like and supportive living environment; a place to live, laugh, enjoy life and be loved. A place to call home at a price you can afford.

There will be an opening prayer at the beginning of the program. Veterans in attendance will be recognized for their service and dedication to our country followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to start off the program.  There will be various Health Care Providers present to share information about their services and provide door prizes for participants to win.

Additionally provided free of charge at every Dine with a Doc is a “Wellness Clinic”.  You’ll be able to count on Lincolnland Home Care and Hospice every month at the Dine with a Doc® program to provide you with blood pressure information to take back to your doctor.
