Seventh Grade
The Seventh Grade Lady Hornets started up the week against Saint Joseph Ogden on Nov 4
The girls defeated St. Joe 24-13. Adrina Simmons lead the team with nine points, Raeleigh Rusk contributed six points, Taylor Gordon followed with five points, and Lia Patterson and Emily Veach each had two points. Coach Pugh said “I thought the girls played well with switching their defense. We did not let St. Joe get comfortable with their offense.”
The Lady Hornets went up against Atwood Lovington Arthur Hammond next on Nov 5. They had a very close game, winning 22-21. Coach Pugh said, “it is good to have close games throughout the year. We learned a lot from this game. I thought that Taylor Gordon had a good game offensively, she is keeping the ball and going up to the correct place.” Gordon lead the girls with twelve points, Ava Boyer and Lia Patterson each had four points, and Raeleigh Rusk contributed two points.
Eighth Grade
Later in the night on the fourth, the Eighth Grade girls also took on St. Joe, winning 25-19. Coach Pugh noted on their success, “the eighth grade also switched their defense a lot so that Saint Joe could not get their offense going. The team was able to force St. Joe into turnovers, which we transitioned into points for us. Sydney Moss had a good game.” Moss lead the team with twelve points, Emily Czerwonka contributed six points, Marissa Boyer had three points, and Zoey Thomason and Addyson Ring each had two points.
In their game against ALAH, the Lady Hornets defeated them 38-12. Emily Czerwonka and Zoey Thomason each contributed ten points, Sydney Moss followed with eight points, Marissa Boyer had four points, and Catie Gibson, Corrine Robinson, and Addyson Ring all had two points. Coach Pugh said, “our defense forced ALAH into a lot of turnovers. I was happy to get more girls into this game. Zoey Thomason is starting to take charge on the floor the way a point guard should and the team is benefitting from it.”
The girls will take on Villa Grove next at home on Nov 14 at beginning at 6 p.m.
