SAR and DAR Good Citizen recipients chosen

The Stephen A. Douglas Chapter of DAR/SAR (National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution/Sons of the American Revolution have named Kelsey Slaughter and Emma Zimmer as this years recipients. The DAR and SAR award recognizes the outstanding citizens in the Senior Class. 

Emma Zimmer was named the SAR Good Citizen Winner. She is the daughter of Lora and Rodney Zimmer. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked first in her class. Zimmer has been incredibly involved throughout high school. She is a member of student council, serving as this year’s president, the dance team, Key Club, SADD, National Honors Society, and attended Girls State. 

Kelsey Slaughter was named the DAR Good Citizen Winner. Slaughter has been very involved throughout high school. All four years she has been in Key Club, FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America), and served as Class Treasurer. In her later years she also became involved with student council, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), math team, and NHS.
