Kent Alan Stock

Kent Alan Stock, 55, of Arthur passed away on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon.

He was born at Jarman Hospital in Tuscola on May 27, 1964, which was also the birthdate of his great grandfather, Herman Stock, who was born 100 years earlier on May 27, 1864. His parents, who preceded him in death, were Martin (Bud) and Phyllis (Honn) Stock. He leaves behind two sisters, Martha K. (Delano) Yeakel and Sally (Don) McCarthy, both of Arthur. Nephews Jason (Tiffany) Yeakel and Matthew McCarthy of Arthur and niece Kyra Yeakel of Lafayette, Wisconsin also survive. Also surviving are great nephew and great nieces Shane Chady, Izzy Chady, Taylor Moran and Kassie Moran of Lafayette; Kaylee and Addison Yeakel of Arthur; and honorary great nephew Jake Thomas (Kory Howard) of Milwaukee.

Kent was a 1982 graduate of Arthur High School and maintained a close relationship with many of his classmates. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1986. He loved the Cubs, the Knights and he loved the Illini. GO CHIEF!

Kent’s latest employment was with the local newspaper, the Arthur Graphic-Clarion and Southern Piatt Record Herald, where, among other things, he wrote a weekly column, Town Talk, sharing the happenings and events of Arthur and its citizens. He was always eager to share what our students were doing and what was happening in our schools. He so much enjoyed history and was instrumental in keeping the local historical society going. His wit and fantastic sense of humor came through in his writings and many enjoyed and looked forward to his column and facebook posts for that reason.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 at the Arthur United Methodist Church where he was a member.  Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthur Pubic Library or the District #305 Education Foundation, c/o the Arthur High School.

Online condolences to the family may be sent to
