Hi everyone. My name is Kendra Hennis and I will be attempting to fill the massive shoes left by Kayleigh Rahn at The Journal. Kayleigh was offered a very exciting opportunity to be an editorial specialist for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois. However, she and her family plan to remain in Douglas County and she will still be contributing to many great things in the community.
I graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 2014 and then continued at Eastern Illinois University where I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in public relations with an english minor. At EIU, public relations and journalism are very closely related, and there are plans to merge the programs in the coming years.
During my time at school, I served as the vice president of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and as a member of the Bateman Competition Team. These opportunities, in combination with my classwork, really allowed me to get a feel for the field and have an understanding of what I was coming into. I am incredibly thankful for my time at Eastern, as well as the friends and professors who attributed to making it so special.
I could not be more thrilled to return to Tuscola and begin giving into the community that provided me with so much. I am so excited and anxious to go on this journey with all of you. The merge of The Tuscola Journal and The Villa Grove News is a very special opportunity for me. Growing up in the area, the community is so important to me. I think that both communities are wonderful and doing great things, and with your help I cannot wait to showcase that.
I am so excited to begin working with and for you. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with any questions or items you would like to see submitted. My email is email@example.com or you can call the office at (217) 253-5086, it will be my pleasure to serve you.
