Lightweights cruise to first victory of the season
The Villa Grove Heritage lightweights defeated CGB 38-0 on Sunday, Sept. 29. Jacob Golightly caught a 40-yard td pass and also scored on a 44-yard strip and score to lead the way. Gilles also found Zane Hosler for a 46-yard td and scored on a 15 yard run, Tyson Koeberlein powered in from the 1, and Rylan White connected on four 2-pt conversion kicks.
Heavyweights remain undefeated
The VGH heavyweights used their punishing ground game to wallop CGB 41-0 on Sept. 29. Gunner Cline led the way, rushing for 93 yards and three touchdowns. (24,21,6) Layne Rund chipped in with 96 yards and two scores (22,41) and Braydon Dowler added 40 yards on six carries, including a 6-yard TD.
Defensively, the Blue Devils were led by Jaxon Wilson, who had eight tackles (two for loss), and Nic Wilson, who added six stops (three for loss). Kyle Krause had four tackles for loss, Alex Jensen had five stops (3 fl) and recovered a fumble, and Layne Rund had an interception for VGH, whose record improved to 7-0 with the win.
