Meffords celebrate 60th
James L. Mefford and Connie F. Gould Mefford recently celebrated 60 years of Holy Matrimony at the Moose Lodge in Mattoon.
The couple was married in Tuscola on Aug. 28, 1959. James is the son of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Geneva Mefford and Connie is the daughter of the late Mr. Harold and Mrs. Naomi Smith Gould.
Attending the celebration were their children Wesley Mefford of Mattoon and Sonja Robeck of Tuscola; grandchildren: Dana Tell, Sue (Jason) Shumway, John (Jaimie) Mefford, James (Allainia) Mefford, Katie Paddock, Clara Mefford, Wesley Mefford Jr., Cloie Mefford, and Heather Robeck; great-grandchildren: DeAnna, Dwight Jr., Daisy, Alex, Regan, Oliver, Charlotte, Nathanial, Jacob, Melody, Bradley, London, Mackenzie, Riley, and Kori. Many other friends and family celebrated this great milestone with Jim and Connie.
During the celebration, the couple danced to “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane” by Tanya Tucker. Their son, Wes, read a poem written by Connie in 1992 Titled “Summer Song.” Attendees took turns telling memories of the couple and how they are an inspiration to them.
