Lloyd Earl “Buck” Navel, age 92 of Oakland, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Paris Healthcare Center.
Lloyd was born May 31, 1927 in Bourbon to Ray Otis and Ima Jane (Auten) Navel. He married Hazel Elizabeth Conn on May 17, 1947 in Tuscola, and they enjoyed 72 years together.
Lloyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, where he served as deacon, and the Oakland V.F.W. Post #3637. Lloyd was also a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed farming, horseshoes, fishing, woodworking, boating and reading Western novels.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Leslie E. Navel; and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife; five children: Loren E. (Patricia) Navel of Effingham, Lawrence “Larry” E. Navel of Kansas, Lee E. (Doreen) Navel of Oakland, Lyle E. (Cindy) Navel of Hamilton, Ohio, and Lynn E. (Bill) McBurney of Oakland; one brother: Don (Linda) Navel of Rockville, Ind.; two sisters: Lola Nowning of Jerseyville and Marie Magill of Bloomingdale, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, July 8, 2019 at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation was prior to the service. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery, with military rites performed by the Arcola American Legion Post #0639.
