Bairds to celebrate 55th wedding anniversary

Jim and Mary (Johns) Baird of Arcola will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary Friday, June 21. 

The couple was married June 21, 1964 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lawrence Tagg.

Their wedding party included: Maid of Honor: Connie (Johns) Gilles; Bridesmaids: Beverly (Johns) Allen, Doris (Johns) Sanders, and Pat (Proffitt) Armstrong; Flower girl: Rhonda (Gibson) Mohr; Best Man: Jerry Baird; and Groomsmen: Ken Farber, Bob Utterback, Jerry Taylor, Lyle Johns, and Bob Travis.

The couple farmed for 47 years in the Douglas County area where they’ve made their life together along with four daughters: Kris (Gordon) Hunter of Oswego; Beth (Sean) Reynolds of Effingham; Amy (Melissa) Baird of Carlsbad, Calif.; and Tracy (Ryan) Hornaday of Tuscola and nine grandchildren.
