Around the Halls
By Caleigh Parsley
Tuscola FFA members Morgan Jones, Coulson Poffenberger, Hannah Lemay, Caleigh Parsley, Olivia Fulk, Blake Cruzan, and Julia Kerkhoff attended the 91st Illinois FFA State Convention in Springfield on Tuesday, June 11 through Thursday, June 13.
Members attended sessions and the career fair. They also visited the Old State Capitol Building where they were able to hear Ulysses S. Grant. Our chapter and members received many awards including the American Degree Recognition, National Chapter Award, State Degrees, Scrapbook Recognition, and State President Installation.
To start, Caleb Stumeier and his family enjoyed an American Degree Recipient Dinner, then Caleb was recognized on stage for his accomplishments. He will be receiving his American Degree at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 2. After that session, members went to the FFA dance. Then, the next afternoon, Coulson Poffenberger and Blake Cruzan went on stage to receive a certificate of accomplishment for our bronze National Chapter Award. Our chapter received this for all of the events we have done this year. That same night Morgan Jones, Machenzie Stewart, and Ethan Stumeier each received their FFA State Degree. Morgan earned hers in beef entrepreneurship, specialty animal entrepreneurship, and food service placement; Machenzie in ag education, ag communications, and nursery production; and Ethan in beef production.
The Tuscola FFA is so proud of each of your accomplishments, hard work, and dedication! On Thursday, Hannah Lemay and Caleigh Parsley earned the silver award in the scrapbook competition. Finally, to finish off a great trip, Morgan Jones was installed as the 2019-2020 Section 17 President. Congratulations! The Chapter could not be prouder of you and cannot wait to see all you accomplish this year!
