Tuscola fire evacuates two women, eight dogs during exterior fire

The Tuscola Fire Department assisted two women and eight dogs from a Tuscola home just after 8 p.m. Monday, May 20.

The fire crew was dispatched to the 900 block of East Pembroke Street for an active fire at a white mobile home. The fire crew found the mobile home with an exterior fire on the back of the corner of the structure. The crew extinguished the exterior fire.

The firefighters aided in the evacuation of an elderly women with her adult daughter along with eight dogs.

Douglas County Animal Shelter took control of all pets per the owner’s request.

The home was ventilated and the crew found no sign of fire within the structure.

The fire investigation is ongoing. The crew returned to the station and readied equipment by 9:03 p.m.
