Around the Halls

By Caleigh Parsley
Tuesday, October 16 through Friday, October 19 Key Club held a Coin Drive for hurricane victims. Thank you to all at TCHS who donated their change! Key Club also helped collect and sort the food donations at SAM Food Pantry on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Busy Season Ahead — The Tuscola FFA had their monthly meeting a little different this time. They held it at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in the Ag room with dinner provided for all 38 members that attended and Hocus Pocus playing after – Ms. Pirtle and her son, Maverick’s favorite movie.

Also, the Tuscola FFA Chapter has a busy couple of months ahead of them, and it all starts from being approved to travel to Indianapolis, Ind., for the 91st National FFA Convention. Students will attend workshops, career fairs, tours and many other attractions during their five day stay. Advisor Aspen Pirtle says this trip is a great stepping stone for the 12 FFA members attending to bond and become one as a unit; but also come back and share with their chapter new ideas and goals for the remainder of the upcoming year. After returning home, FFA members will then participate in the annual Trick-or-Treat at the Community Building on Oct. 29, Ag Sales on Nov. 2 and then will gear up in preparation for their annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Nov. 12.

Two FFA officers will embark on a weekend of leadership development conferences on Nov. 9-10 and then will conclude their several week marathon of events and activities with gathering items to donate five baskets for Thanksgiving to families in need this season in time for the holidays.
