Around the Halls: FFA With A Busy Month Ahead
By Caleigh Parsley
On Saturday, Sept. 29, Tuscola FFA attended the Annual Tuscola Alumni Hall of Fame Luncheon held at Douglas County Museum. Members served and assisted with clean-up at the event. After a short break, this marked the beginning of a busy month ahead for FFA members. Coming up FFA members will have their monthly meeting at a different time than normal; this month’s meeting will occur Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for members to grab dinner, talk about upcoming events and watch a movie. Then, at the end of the month, 12 members will attend National FFA Convention traveling to Indianapolis, Ind., and after coming back from their trip they will participate in Tuscola at the downtown trick or treat on Monday, Oct. 29 at the Community Building.
Tuesday, Oct. 10, SADD had their monthly chapter meeting starting to plan Red Ribbon Week, which will be Oct. 29 through Nov. 2.
Most TCHS juniors took the Practice SAT Wednesday, Oct. 11.
FCCLA held the chapter meeting Wednesday, Oct. 11 where they thanked everyone who helped with the bake sale the week prior and explained the Auntie Anne’s fundraiser. Make sure to find an FCCLA member to order yours by Thursday, Oct. 25!
Juniors and Seniors had the opportunity to meet with Eastern Illinois University, Parkland College, Southern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois representatives during advisory period on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They are able to ask any questions while learning more about the college. Millikin is also coming in. Eastern’s student ambassador, Rachel Mannen, a former graduate of Tuscola High School, is coming to give the perspective of an EIU student.
