The seventh grade girls’ basketball team held tight to a tough Central A&M team, but ultimately fell 27-32.

Sydney Moss led the team with 10 points, and Marissa Boyer contributed nine. Zoey Thomason put together six points, and Rachael Jones added one.

“Seventh grade played more aggressive against a good Central A&M team,” Coach Beth Pugh said. “The things that beat us were that we didn’t get back on defense and we sent them to the free throw line too many times.”

The Lady Hornets hit 10 field goals compared to Central A&M’s 11, but the Raiders were 10 for 11 from the line, which Pugh said, made the difference.

“We were happy with the seventh grade’s effort; they never gave up,” Pugh said.

The eighth grade Lady Hornets left no question in a 35-16 win over the Raiders.

Ella Boyer posted 12 points in the first three quarters, while Harley Woodard and Claire Meyer put together six each. Marley Good tallied four points, Mia Hausmann added three, and Izzy Wilcox and Molly Macauley had two apiece.

“The eighth grade played better on both ends of the court,” Pugh said. “They moved the ball better on offense and talked more on defense. I enjoyed their intensity.”
