Ring goes low

Claire Ring took Charleston Country Club by storm Tuesday. Sept 4.
The senior was carded low score of the day for both boy and girl squads in a triangular meet with Arcola and Charleston. She pared five holes and bogeyed four en route to medalist honors on the girls’ side delivering a personal best 41. Lainey Banta was the number two for coach Doug Bauer’s team, and Whitney Root was the number three in the meet.
Matt Erickson was the leader for Bauer in the boys meet shooting a 45 taking eighth overall out of more than 20 golfers. Next up for Tuscola was Brody Good. Good fired a career best 52 on the challenging course. Colson Poffenberger and Tyler Bialeschki were the final two scorers for the Warriors, while Landon Banta and Cory Dunn served as varsity alternates.
Erickson was two shots better on Thursday at Iron Horse Golf Club in a four-team event that included Villa Grove, Effingham St. Anthony, and Salt Fork. The second year player carded a 44, which included a pair of pars. Next up was Poffenberger carding a season low 51, followed by Cory Dunn with a 55. Landon Banta rounded out the scoring helping the Warriors to a second place finish overall. Ring tied for medalist on the girls’ side with a 46, while Lainey Banta ended up in third with a season best 50.
