Tuscola FFA, for many years, has sent several FFA members to Illinois FFA Leadership Camp, and this year was no exception. Senior and FFA Officer Gabriella Gunther and Junior Hannah Lemay attended Illinois FFA Leadership Camp held at the Allerton Park in Monticello July 24-27. Both stayed in cabins at the park for their three-night stay and were put into groups with members from other chapters from across the state. The focus of this camp is to promote leadership qualities and how to take those qualities back to help their local FFA chapters. Both members who attended were allowed to go expense free from the efforts of fundraising all year in their local chapter. After returning home from camp both said they connected with other members that they may not have otherwise connected with at other events and have even stayed in contact with members from our groups since camp ended. FFA Advisor Ms. Pirtle said her hope is to continue having students who are interested in taking a week out of their summer to explore unique opportunities like this, because it is truly impactful not only to the member, but also to the chapter.

FCCLA officers had their first meeting Tuesday, Aug. 21, before the Freshman Orientation, to plan the upcoming service projects for first semester. The officers are excited for this year and to begin working on the projects that are in the works!

After practicing all summer, your TCHS Cheerleaders were ready for the first game against Villa Grove, which turned out to be an awesome win! The team cannot wait to cheer on the Warrior football team for the rest of the season and wish them luck!! They were also busy this summer fundraising. The Cheerleaders sold candy bars, courtesy of Joe’s Pizza, and did the school song with the Warriorettes at Our Town Tuscola movie night Friday, Aug. 17. The girls also had a car wash at the Moose Lodge Saturday, Aug. 18. It was a great turn out and bunches of fun!
