Welcome Back… to school and Around the Halls! I hope your summer break was great!
It was a big summer for Tuscola FFA! Back in June, FFA members from the TCHS Chapter attended the State FFA Convention held in Springfield at the Bank of Springfield Center. Members attended award ceremonies, competitions, career shows and so much more. Machenzie Stewart was a state finalist in the top 25 in the agricultural education career development event. She received her certificate and was recognized at an awards banquet. Caleb Stumeier received his State FFA Degree, which is the highest degree at the state level a member can receive. Caleb has spent three years keeping records of his corn and soybean enterprise. Caleb received his degree the last evening of convention. Caleb, in the future, will apply for his American FFA Degree which will be awarded at National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Ind., next year.
Over the summer, the high school basketball team had workouts three days a week in June and July. Attendance was excellent with 25-30 guys showing up each day. The highlight of the summer was taking the sophomores-seniors to the University of Illinois Men’s Basketball Team Camp. Both the JV and Varsity teams competed during the three-day tournament. Varsity also went undefeated at a shootout in Cerro Gordo.
SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions, cannot wait for the incoming school year and all the events to come!
Student Council made eight benches for an outdoor classroom or somewhere students can sit during lunch. Cabot donated the wood, while Do-It Best delivered it.
Cabot also donated computers for Hack Club to take apart and learn from.
Miss Holmes and Mrs. Hoel went to a yearbook workshop for three days, learning so much. It was a great time and experience for them both!
