Charlotte Wax of Newman was selected as Illinoisan of the Day at the Illinois State Farm on Aug. 10, 2018. The Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation spotlights ten individuals based on their integrity, dependability, sense of community and strong ethics for each day of the State Fair. Winners receive honors and gifts at their ceremony.
Charlotte Wax was the farm wife of her husband Ray Wax for 43 years. They lived on the family farm raising corn, soybeans, Duroc hogs, and Shorthorn cattle. They raised two sons, Richard and Wallace, and one daughter Martha who were all 10-year 4-H members. She is now sending her fourth generation to exhibit at the State Fair.
Charlotte has attended the Illinois State Fair for 84 years. She is a lifelong member of the Newman Methodist Church, 50-year member of Newman Woman’s Club, 44-year member and past regent Stephen A. Douglas DAR Chapter, former 4-H leader and State Fair chaperone. Charlotte truly believes in faith, family, and farm.
