Zachary Hingson of Atwood and Cody Lewis of Tuscola were selected to receive a $1,000 academic scholarship by the Douglas County Farm Bureau Foundation. The given award is based on merit, demonstrated commitment to rural life and college enrollment in an ag related field of study.

Zach is a sophomore at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying Technical Systems Management. This summer he will be interning with Cargill as an Operations Manager. He looks forward to his career as a team member helping make decisions for agriculture as it adapts to increase productivity.

Cody is a junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying Agriculture and Consumer Economics. In the future he wants to work in the grain business as a commodity merchandiser and help ensure that the agriculture mission of feeding people continues.

The Douglas County Farm Bureau Foundation, established in 2012, is a charitable foundation committed to promoting educational opportunities for the youth of Douglas County.

“We are thrilled to award this scholarship to Zachary Hingson and Cody Lewis. They were selected among an outstanding group of young people to represent our Foundation.” said Executive Director, Tyler Harvey. “The Foundation aims to assist students with high potential for success and a strong desire to return to a rural community upon graduation.”
