One Minute with an Educator: Mrs. Hallett

Subject/Grade assignment this school year: 2nd grade

What was your favorite subject in school? As a product of the Tuscola School District I had many amazing teachers across all subject areas that fostered my love for learning making naming one a favorite impossible. I just hope if any of them are reading this, they know how much I truly appreciate them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

What is your favorite weekend activity? I always look forward to weekend sushi dates with my husband Jordan.

What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving

What are you most looking forward to in your curriculum this month? When we get back after Winter Break we will spend time talking about New Year’s Resolutions and goal making. This mini unit always makes me appreciate how unique and ambitious each of my kids are.

What are your students learning this week? This week I introduced “how to” writing. Together the kids brainstormed all of the steps to decorating a Christmas tree, organized them in order and wrote them in paragraph form. Later they will each choose their own topic to write about and teach each other the steps.

There is no greater joy than watching my students make progress and have fun doing it. Their smiles and hugs make every bit of stress totally worth it.
