Around the Halls

By Caleigh Parsley
TCHS SADD and FCCLA joined together again for an art supply drive for our Douglas County Mental Health Department. There was a green paper Christmas tree put up outside of Mrs. Harriss’ room and members were asked to grab an ornament from it, then buy what they grabbed. We were able to collect almost all the items and plus some on the list!

Tuscola High School SADD is also now sponsoring a “Giving the gift of kindness and self esteem Daily Challenge” inspired by author Lori Deschene. Lori wrote the book “Tiny Buddha’s 365 Tiny Love Challenges.” Our challenges started Monday, Dec. 4 and will continue through the last day of finals. The challenges so far have included: Monday, Dec. 4: pay someone a compliment on something you believe he/she is insecure about to boost his/her confidence; Tuesday, Dec. 5: replace a critical thought about someone with a grateful thought; Wednesday, Nov. 6: make it a priority to point out the good things about yourself instead of dwelling on the things you dislike about yourself; Thursday, Nov. 7: thank someone for something you usually take for granted; Friday, Nov. 8: text, email, or leave a note for someone who needs a kind word and a little support. Please, join us in these amazing, easy challenges!

Saturday, Dec. 8, a few FCCLA members bell rang for the Salvation Army at the Outlets at Tuscola from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Then, Student Council took over until 3:30 p.m.
