Two Tuscola Girl Scout Troops, Daisy Troop 2839 and Junior Troop 2274, completed their first community service project of the year at their meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Hero Box is a not-for-profit organization that helps soldiers receive messages and care packages while stationed serving our country. Soldiers who are currently deployed sign up for the opportunity to receive a care package through Hero Box during their deployment.
Each girl was asked to bring a few items to our November meetings, however, due to the generosity of family and friends, they were able to send five boxes of items to three different soldiers. The girls also made special cards to thank the soldiers for their service in the armed forces.
“We expected to send one small box,” said troop leader Tricia Willoughby. “Instead, we ended up being able to send five completely full boxes to our adopted soldiers. The family members of our girl scouts have been very generous and supportive. I can’t thank them enough!”
